On October 17, our Piano+ concert series continues with Ivonne Figueroa, famous Puerto Rican pianist, and Ana María Hernández, renowned flutist and member of the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra. These two musicians with worldwide experience come together in Piano+ to bring us a musical dialogue between France and Puerto Rico, with varied French compositions, from Leclair to Poulenc. BIOGRAPHICAL NOTESIVONNE FIGUEROA | Pianist, music educator and member of the renowned Figueroa-Sanabia Family of Puerto Rican musicians. Granted a scholarship by maestro Pablo Casals, in 1974 she became the first artist in the Western Hemisphere to receive a prize at the Robert Schumann International Piano Competition in East Germany. He has given concerts in the United States, Europe and Latin America, has participated in the Casals Festival and has collaborated with the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra. ANA MARÍA HERNÁNDEZ | International concert artist and piccolo soloist of the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra. Ana María Hernández has performed in 16 countries in the Americas and Europe. She was Artistic Coordinator and creator of the First Latin American Flutist Festival at the University of Puerto Rico. As a promoter of contemporary Puerto Rican music, she uses her versatility in handling the flutes at the service of innovative musical proposals.
