National Puerto Rican Cuatro Day

The mayor of the Autonomous Municipality of Caguas, William E. Miranda Torres and the Department of Cultural Development invite citizens to the commemoration of the National Puerto Rican Cuatro Day next Sunday, November 17, 2024 starting at noon in Plaza Santiago Rosendo Palmer. Admission is free.Pedro Guzmán and his Jíbaro Jazz, the national troubadour Edgardo Delgado, Orlando Laureano with the Criollo Typical Workshop and Junior Carrillo and the Caobaná Group will participate in this activity.

There will be a great competition for young cuatristas between the ages of 11 to 14 and 15 to 22 years. Registration will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 m. The Criollo Artisan Market will also be available.It should be noted that Law Number 50 of April 11, 2002 declares November 17 as National Puerto Rican Cuatro Day. The activity serves to recognize and highlight the indigenous musical instrument of Puerto Rico that is considered a national symbol and that characterizes Puerto Rican folklore.
