Degree 18 Juice Bar is a favorite spot to hit after a hike in El Yunque. Set on the main street through Palmer, they have amazing smoothies, acai bowls and vegan snacks such as veggie burgers, wraps and yummy vegan empanada. Food is fresh and made on the spot. Lovely outdoor seating area with a new roof built so you can hear the pitter patter of rain overhead. Dogs are welcome, and they don’t use styrofoam or single-use plastics. Being on an island, getting away from single use and styrofoam containers is important for the environment.

El Grifo in Caguas has some of the most amazing vegan food on the island. Generally reservations are required, though sometimes they can accommodate walk-ins if possible. They carry an extensive list of Puerto Rican brews and have an amazing brunch. Even non-vegans will love and enjoy their food. For brunch they offer pancakes, scrambles and waffles. For lunch/dinner they have pastas, burgers, pizza, and a kids menu. They also serve coffee with a variety of alternative ‘milks’ and juices. The historic building has beautiful 100 year old tiles upstairs. Downstairs they have a bar and additional seating.
